February 25th Weekly Blog

School Safety -  SRP or "Standard Response Protocol" is the framework and language we use at West High School for school safety. To find out more information about how this process was developed and how it works, please go to https://iloveuguys.org/  The video below gives a brief preview of what this looks like in schools. Upon seeing this video and accessing the website, please contact School Resource Officer Jason Trimborn, Assistant Principal/Athletic Director Kyle LeMieux or Principal Ryan Patt with questions.

Model UN at West - Today, Monday, February 25, students from Arrowhead, Brookfield East, Mukwonago, and Kettle Moraine joined Waukesha West High School for its first-ever Mini-Model United Nations Conference. In this day-long simulation over 60 students represented 14 different countries around the world in an attempt to solve some of today's most pressing issues: 21st Century Cyber Security, Renewable Energy in Sustainable Development, Treatment of Prisoners, and Violence Against Women. Students had to research these issues from their country's perspective, then effectively argue for resolutions following Parliamentary Procedure. See the itinerary for the day to understand their process and enjoy the pictures of the event.

I encourage anyone to access the Challenge Day website to learn more about it. https://www.challengeday.org/

February 11th Weekly Blog (Snow Day 2nd Edition)

Another Snow Day Today!! - Just wanted to share another clip that I found with everyone to ensure you know school is closed again today (no one is here so I know you all got the memo once again) and you enjoy your snow day as it is perfect weather to be outside enjoying the snow... I could never be this cool in calling a snow day, nor would you want to hear me sing any version of Mariah Carey. Tomorrow on Wednesday, February 13th we will be running our normal Wednesday schedule! See you tomorrow!

School Safety Reminders - As we begin the second semester and approach the one year anniversary of the unfortunate school shooting that occurred in Parkland, FL, I have created this video for reminding students and families what can be done to keep West High School the safest place possible.

West Fishing Club - Last week on February 5th the leaders of the Waukesha West Fishing Club and other student leaders joined five West staff members and took 14 students who had never ice fished before out for a day on the lake. The two other Waukesha high schools followed suit and when adding in the students and adults from the other schools, there were approximately 100 people out on the ice. Our staff members, students, and some parents worked hard to create a wonderful experience for the students. Please enjoy the pictures below of this outstanding event and a big thank you to our fishing club advisors Mr. Joe Jenn and Mr. Mark Anderson for making this happen.
