February 11th Weekly Blog (Snow Day 2nd Edition)

Another Snow Day Today!! - Just wanted to share another clip that I found with everyone to ensure you know school is closed again today (no one is here so I know you all got the memo once again) and you enjoy your snow day as it is perfect weather to be outside enjoying the snow... I could never be this cool in calling a snow day, nor would you want to hear me sing any version of Mariah Carey. Tomorrow on Wednesday, February 13th we will be running our normal Wednesday schedule! See you tomorrow!

School Safety Reminders - As we begin the second semester and approach the one year anniversary of the unfortunate school shooting that occurred in Parkland, FL, I have created this video for reminding students and families what can be done to keep West High School the safest place possible.

Conferences will start at 4:00 P.M. and go until 7:30 P.M. We will be continuing on with our recent format for these conferences by having them as an appointment only. West Fishing Club - Last week on February 5th the leaders of the Waukesha West Fishing Club and other student leaders joined five West staff members and took 14 students who had never ice fished before out for a day on the lake. The two other Waukesha high schools followed suit and when adding in the students and adults from the other schools, there were approximately 100 people out on the ice. Our staff members, students, and some parents worked hard to create a wonderful experience for the students. Please enjoy the pictures below of this outstanding event and a big thank you to our fishing club advisors Mr. Joe Jenn and Mr. Mark Anderson for making this happen.

Challenge Day Momentum - Continuing with our "Challenge Day" momentum we most recently welcomed students back for the second semester with "Welcome Back Wednesday (which was Thursday because of the snow day)" where teachers were in specific locations welcoming our students back. I had positive bullhorn shout-outs in the main entrance, and know several teachers sported instruments, music, and karaoke!! Let's make it a great second semester! I encourage anyone to access the Challenge Day website to learn more about it. https://www.challengeday.org/

Graduation Information 2019 - Graduation day for the all three Waukesha legacy high schools will be Saturday, June 8th, 2019. Waukesha West High School will be holding graduation ceremonies in the West Fieldhouse on this date beginning at 2:00 P.M. As we are one community divided into three high schools, graduation times among all three high schools are staggered per usual to enable friends and family to attend multiple ceremonies if they so choose. South High School ceremonies will begin at 10:00 A.M. and North High School ceremonies will begin at 12:00 P.M. on this date. Please begin informing friends and family who will be attending.
