February 13th Weekly Blog

A New Blog Segment "Purpose Corner" - I will be adding a weekly segment which will be in video form to describe our "purpose" or why we are focused this year at West on doing what we do. It is easier for me to describe and provide a personal touch than providing more narrative. Why did I name it "Purpose Corner"? I am not sure other than subliminally my two children like Winnie the Pooh who hails rom "Pooh Corner"?.....

Celebration of Excellence by the Waukesha Education Foundation - The Waukesha Education Foundation or WEF has given back thousands of dollars in grant money for the benefit of students within the School District of Waukesha over the past several years. They are continuing to set goals to give back more to support learning in our community. Please come and enjoy the Celebration of Excellence which will be happening from 3:00-6:00 P.M. on Sunday February 26th at South HighSchool. This is a district wide event and West will have a table showcasing our TREK program through their Hall of Innovation. Please come out and support the WEF, it is for the entire family and yes....the Racing Sausage will be in attendance! See the event flyer below.

African-American History Month: Today for African American History Month we have a question for you from a poem.  Can you name the writer who wrote the following famous lines?

“You may write me down in history,
with your bitter, twisted lies,
You may trod in the very dirt,
but still like dust I’ll rise.
Just like moons and like suns,
with the certainty of tides,
just like hopes spring high
Still I rise, still I rise, still I rise....”

For any of the questions that are posed during African American History Month, please put your name (students only) with the correct answer to our question in the WAD box that is waiting for you by Ms. Brown near the front doors to the school.  (Brought to you by WAD)

Waukesha West High School will be holding graduation ceremonies in the West Fieldhouse on this date beginning at 2:00 P.M.
