Presidential Scholars - The U.S. Presidential Scholars Program was established in 1964, by executive order of the President, to recognize and honor some of our nation's most distinguished graduating high school seniors. In 1979, the program was extended to recognize students who demonstrate exceptional talent in the visual, creative and performing arts. In 2015, the program was again extended to recognize students who demonstrate ability and accomplishment in career and technical education fields. Each year, up to 161 students are named as Presidential Scholars, one of the nation's highest honors for high school students.

There are 3.5 Million High School Graduates in the U.S this year.

Only 4,000 are candidates who qualify for being considered a Presidential Scholar.

Cameron Chyla and Rachel Ward from West are 2 of 80 students to be considered in Wisconsin and the only students from Waukesha.  Congrats on this amazing academic accomplishment!

African-American History Month: We are approaching the Academy Awards this coming weekend, our African American History month questions asks, “Who was the first African American to win the best actor Academy Award in 1964?”  And, also, noteworthy, is that this same actor shared the very dramatic, first interracial on-screen kiss, just a few years later in Guess Who’s Coming to Dinner?  (Students) Please put your answer to this question, and others that we pose this week, in the  box by Ms. Brown in the school entrance area...and winners will be drawn later in the week!
