Off to a great start!!!

Purpose Corner - What is "Purpose Corner?" It is mostly the video component of my blog that focuses on things that are happening at West. They may be part of other communications you have received, but I look to make it more relevant with a personal touch so the community can at least hear me speak about topics if they choose. This week I talk about how parents can access Blackboard as well as what JIT (Just-In-Time) is and what that may mean for you and your student. The transcript of the video can be accessed through this link.

JIT (Just-In-Time) - Please see the information below that describes the expectations of our JIT support. As we partner to ensure students are succeeding, JIT is a critical part of that journey.

JIT - Just In Time! (New)

West High School Information - Below are a few important pieces of information to keep in mind:

  • A reminder that we have a no backpack policy - all backpacks must be kept in the students' locker during the school day.

  • Only Juniors and Seniors are allowed to have lunch release. Freshmen and Sophomores must remain in the building.

  • "Family Connect" conferences will be from 4:30pm - 7:00pm on Wednesday, September 22nd, and during the same time again on Wednesday, October 6th. These will be done virtually. We will be continuing with our recent format for these conferences by having them as an appointment only with a focus on family connection. The format of the connection time will be 7-minute conferences with teachers leading the conference by asking these two questions:

    1. Is there anything you would like me to know about your family that will help and support the continued success of your student at West?

    2. What do I need to know about your student academically and/or personally in order for your student to have a successful learning experience in my class?
  • The sign-up for the "Family Connect" conferences with detailed information will be sent out in the near future.

Picture Retakes

If you wanted to have a picture retaken, there will be an opportunity for this on Thursday, October 7th during the lunch hour.

Masks optional

Masks are optional for students during the school day to begin the 2021-2022 school year.

Masks are required on busses

All students who ride on busses for transportation to school or extracurricular events must wear a mask per federal law.

Parent Drop Off/Pickup

For students who get dropped off or picked up, there are two designated locations. They are in the circle drive at our main entrance, or at our pool/Fieldhouse entrance. There is no parking in the fire lane when dropping off or picking up at the pool/Fieldhouse entrance. The road behind West High School is a one-way drive where only our buses drop off and pick up students. See map below:
